What “AI-savvy” actually means
Most people measure AI savviness by usage: how often you open ChatGPT, how many tools you’ve tried. That’s the easiest thing to count and the least useful thing to know. Plenty of daily users are stuck asking one-line questions and accepting whatever comes back — high usage, low skill, and real risk. Savviness is the combination of understanding, craft, integration and judgement. This assessment scores all four, across six dimensions.

One of those six behaves differently from the rest. Verification and data judgement is a gate, not just another slice of the average. If you score below 40 there, your overall index is capped no matter how strong everything else is — because someone producing large volumes of unchecked AI output, with client data going into public tools, isn’t advanced. They’re exposed, and the score should say so.

What is AI savviness?
AI savviness is the practical ability to get reliable value out of AI tools — not how much you have read about AI. It combines what you understand about how AI works, how often and how widely you use it, how well you ask for what you need, how deeply it is built into your actual work, and crucially how well you judge what to trust and what to share. Someone who uses AI constantly but never verifies the output is not savvy; they are exposed.
How is the score calculated?
Eighteen questions are scored across six weighted dimensions: awareness (15%), usage and repertoire (15%), prompting craft (20%), integration depth (20%), verification and data judgement (15%) and risk and learning appetite (15%). Each dimension is normalised to 0–100 and combined into a single index, which maps to one of five archetypes.
Why can a heavy AI user still get a low score?
Because verification and data judgement act as a gate rather than as points to be averaged away. If you score poorly on checking outputs and controlling what you paste into public tools, your overall result is capped no matter how advanced the rest of your answers are, and you are shown the "Fast but Exposed" profile instead. Volume of usage without judgement is a risk, not a skill, so the assessment refuses to score it as one.
How long does the assessment take?
About three minutes. There are 18 multiple-choice questions, one per screen, and it advances automatically as you answer. Nothing is sent anywhere — the assessment runs entirely in your browser and your answers never leave your device.
