Core concepts

SmartB Studio is built from a small set of building blocks. Once you understand these five, everything else makes sense.

Modules

A module is a single area of your business — a sales tracker, a leave system, a purchase request flow. Each module has its own form, data table and dashboards. You create a module by describing it to the AI builder.

Records and fields

• A record is one entry in a module — one enquiry, one leave request, one order.
• A field is one piece of information on a record — a name, a date, an amount, a status.

You add or change fields at any time by describing the change; you never edit a database directly.

Dashboards

A dashboard is a collection of live tiles that answer your key questions — totals, counts, trends and breakdowns. Tiles update automatically as records change. See Build your first dashboard for a walkthrough.

Automations

An automation is a rule that runs on its own. Common examples:

• Route a request to the right approver.
• Send a reminder before a due date.
• Change a status when a condition is met.

You create automations the same way you create everything else — by describing them.

Roles

A role controls what a person can see and do. Managers might see everything; a salesperson sees only their own records. Roles are covered in Managing users & roles.
