Build your first dashboard
A dashboard sounds technical, but it is really just this: the questions you ask most, answered automatically. In SmartB Studio you build one by describing those questions.
Start with the questions
Before you build anything, write down what you actually want to know each week. For a sales team that might be:
- How much is in the pipeline right now?
- How many deals are closing this month?
- Who on the team is ahead or behind?
Turn each question into a tile
Ask the AI for each one:
Show total pipeline value grouped by status as a bar chart.
Show a number tile for deals with an expected close date this month.
Each request becomes a live tile. As your team updates records, the tiles refresh on their own — no manual reporting.
Choose the right visual
A few simple rules go a long way:
- A single number — use a number tile (e.g. "total revenue this month").
- Comparing categories — use a bar chart (e.g. "sales by region").
- A trend over time — use a line chart (e.g. "enquiries per week").
If you are not sure, just describe the goal and let the AI pick a sensible default. You can change it later.
Share it with the team
Once your dashboard looks right, give the relevant people access. Managers see the whole picture; each salesperson can see their own.
Good dashboards are not about more charts — they are about fewer, clearer answers.
That is your first dashboard. When you are ready, explore the documentation for the full set of tile types and options.
